Shea Seeds

Shea butter is a plant-based butter extracted from the fruit of the African Shea tree (Scientific name is Vitellaria Paradoxa). Most shea butter comes from West Africa.

The shea fruit is a thin nutritious pulp around a large oil-rich kernel which is used to make shea butter. The fruit is tasty and rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

Shea butter comes from the kernel of that tree’s fruit.

With their hard outer cover, the seeds of the shea tree actually resemble nuts, and as such, they are often called shea “nuts”.

But are they really nuts? Scientifically speaking, shea nuts are in fact just really oil-rich seeds.

Chemical analysis of shea butter shows that it contains five fatty acids; oleic acid, linoleic acids, palmitic, stearic and aracidic acid but also vitamins A, E and K.

High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins make shea butter an ideal cosmetic ingredient that can condition, tone, and soothe your skin.

It also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
